Dr. Gukan “Ku” Sakthivel, M.D.

Gukan “Ku” Sakthivel, M.D., graduated from the William Beaumont School of Medicine. He completed a surgical internship at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY, and went on to complete his radiation oncology residency at the University of Rochester’s Wilmot Cancer Institute, where he served as Chief Resident.

His clinical practice encompasses the treatment of a broad range of malignancies using advanced radiation techniques, including stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT/SABR), adaptive radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and radiopharmaceutical therapy. Dr. Sakthivel’s approach emphasizes individualized treatment planning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the careful integration of modern technology to optimize outcomes while minimizing toxicity.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sakthivel serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Urology at the University at Buffalo, where he maintains an active interest in academic medicine and clinical research. He has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and academic texts addressing contemporary topics in oncology. These activities reflect his commitment to maintaining rigorous clinical standards and contributing to ongoing advances in the field.
