Linear Accelerator
Equipment used in radiation therapy
A linear accelerator, often called a “LINAC” or “radiation machine,” is the equipment used in radiation therapy to deliver radiation treatment to a patient’s tumor.
It works by creating high-energy X-rays or electrons that are precisely aimed at cancer cells. This machine moves around you during treatment to deliver radiation from different angles, ensuring the tumor receives the targeted dose while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue.
